Injection Molding with Polyphenylene Sulfide (PPS)

Plastic Injection Molding with Polyphenylene Sulfide (PPS)

Polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) has the broadest resistance to chemicals of any engineered thermoplastic. PPS is exceptionally resistant to flame, acids, ketones, alkalis and hydrocarbons, making it an ideal thermoplastic for challenging corrosive, high-heat and chemically strenuous environments.

Initially brittle, fibers and other fillers improve its strength, and with its flame resistance and exceptional properties, PPS injection molding is valuable in high-heat electrical and other applications.

Applications Using PPS Injection Molding:

  • Industrial parts
  • Food processing and storage
  • Medical devices
  • Electrical/electronics
  • Consumer products
  • Chemical processing
  • Automotive under-hood applications

Inert to steam and resistant to radiation, polyphenylene sulfide is available in several FDA compliant grades. PPS injection molding may also be glass reinforced for increased flexural and tensile strengths in high heat applications.
